Pre-introducing … book #3!
A question frequently asked but unanswered for dedades has been, how have I made sense of my own NDE? How many years has it taken even to have such a sense of what a distressing NDE might mean! And then, how to go deeply enough inside and in the literature to shape the mountains of information, how to get thoughts on paper in spite of the disruptions of daily life? Trying to write the book took insane amounts of time. It went on for years. There was never enough quiet, enough emptiness for concentrated thinking, enough time for the kind of focus it required.
And then came Covid-19. The isolation which has been a horror for so many has also, sometimes, been pure gift. Suddenly to have no meetings, no appointments, no lunch dates, no plans, no trips, no ventures beyond the mail box! The vast sweep of unencumbered time and purpose created a unique, almost biblical circumstance, like a long labor enabling a hard-to-write book to be delivered into being. Now it is almost time for the new arrival’s public appearance.
The paperback edition of Reckoning is in the IngramSparks pipeline and will be published internationally in early spring, or as soon as Ingram completes its part with Covid-depleted staff. As with the first two books, I am self-publishing because the size of the readership niche does not entice a commercial publisher. The ebook version is also moving toward production. Soon! You’ll see–I wasn’t just doing nothing all that while!
If you like, bring some questions or discussion and we’lldance another round of blog life. Would love to hear from you.

Congratulations Nancy!, I wish You the best of success with the new published book, “Reckoning, Discoveries after a Traumatic Near-Death Experience”
It has surely been, at the same time, a challenge and an enormous satisfaction to get a book published in this pandemic times. My admiration and respect to You for such an outstanding achievement.
The title seems to be perfect, the word reckoning brings deep reminiscences of everything that an NDE implies, no to mention the magic of being the book number 3, surely it is a book of deep thoughts and light arising from reflection.
Around the world the experience was similar, … pure and simple globalization?: ” Suddenly to have no meetings, no appointments, no lunch dates, no plans … ” I agree, it is a gift, as log as it is recognized, it’s a unique opportunity for reckoning.
Perhaps in this troubled times, as always, people are like the lost son of the parable (Luke 15:11-32), need to come back home to find what only exists within each one, it requires some effort on our part. In time the world will return to normal and we will leave the covid station behind, if we were lucky, enriched, wiser.
Many blessings and all the best for You Nancy!

Exciting! I was just thinking about you last night. I’m glad the universe gave you the space to finally be able to finish your book. I’m a self-published author, myself, so I know how grueling and fun the process can be. Can’t wait to read it!

Nancy,
I just purchased ur third book, loved the other two.
The last two posts u made, you made them when your latest books came out and hinted at more dialogue and follow up… but no more posts .
Your blog is informative , you should write in it more!

Thanks very much. After that last batch of posts, I simply ran out of steam. Having been at this for more than 40 years, it’s hard to think of new things to say, and I discovered the rumors about age are at least partly true. What helps (unabashed hint) is when there are readers’ questions to respond to! With the new book out, I’m about to go for another round of blog posts, so please think of questions! Appreciate you.

Nan, I just got your new book. Reading is hard for me, but I’ve watched all your YouTube videos and crave more…more hearing from someone who knows how the negative experience feels and is also seeking to make sense of it. I’m “comforted,” for lack of a better word, that your growing up religious teachings were similar to mine – which for me has made the “reckoning” of an dNDE much more difficult. I hope to find my own “reckoning” by the end of the book as this year has brought significant health issues and I wonder how close my “actual” time is. In looking online even now, the lack of people to communicate with who understand and support those with dNDEs is so few. Thank you for continuing on this journey and allowing us to hear and read your thoughts about it so we too can make sense of our experiences.

Jennifer, thanks. It does seem odd that growwing up with a God of love makes understanding a dNDE so difficult! But that’s what happens as long as the whole cultural context keeps the experience in a context of fear. I cannot get away (nor do I want to) from a context of religion (which is, of course, not the nonsense skeptics suppose), but I had to find a different context while working out the “understanding dNDE” part. As long as I was holding only to the Creation perspective, there was no way to get other answers. Does this make sense? I’m not saying it was all logical, but at least I had to see the need to let go of the old in order to meet anything new. Where the dNDE is more intensely personal–that is, more about the personal psyche and less about general principles, finding the new perspective may be even more difficult. I am hoping that Stanislav Grof’s work with the images and experiences he found in the deep human psyche will be helpful for those dNDes.
Keep going! I hope you will keep me posted on how you are doing.

I will keep you updated, Nan -remembering my reading can be very slow. Thanks for the reference to Grof’s work. I’d not heard of it and have begun to read through it as well. It is hopeful and inspiring to connect with emerging understanding of concepts many of the human race have known about for centuries that tend to get lost as we “progress” as a society. We often “box ourselves in” to such narrow paradigms – perhaps for a feeling of psyche safety. I’ve purposefully been “shedding” the religious beliefs I was taught. The concept of a loving God was and is barely noticeable in those beliefs. The brainwashing of the fear is deep and the messages of “deserving” darkness or hell are difficult to “shed” – especially when a “non-ordinary” experience as Grof puts it seems to mimic what the fear-based religion taught. (My seeming dNDE in a nutshell was a dark sense-deprived
void with nothing but fear, confusion and difficult straining to get back to what I knew as “life.”) Without the “white light loving NDE experience, it’s a bit challenging to put myself in that “new to me” context and remove fear from my many medically fragile moments that could end in finality or another “non-ordinary” experience. I do have a past history of paranormal gifting and experiences that don’t allow me to deny the context I’m seeking. I’m also finding much support for finding a different context from people who have experiences that don’t align with the negative brainwashing – including 2 very caring atheists who have their own sense of “universal” non-ordinary connection. Here’s to creating our own “context” and “reckoning” the rest for an exciting and more loving and secure based paradigm!

Jennifer, what a strong comment! It deserves a full blog post rather than a response here. Keep the light on!
